Delilah Bon Iver, a copper haired third year, was sitting comfortably in one of the blue arm chairs in the corner of the Ravenclaw common room. She gingerly turned the pages of a very old book. Across the cover in glittering gold letters it read "Lumière Du Soleil" . Delilah subconsciously chewed on her lower lip as she read and eyed the other students who worked their way in and out of the common room.

I HEAR THEY RESERVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELLJUST FOR GIRLS LIKE ME Paisley Shire wore her hair in a tight bun. It was the type of hair styling that made even the eldest of professors at Hogwarts wonder if she was secretly an old woman. She did this because she had spent all morning sitting through an exceptionally tedious Charms exam. She had always been under the impression that, if she acted and looked older, she'd gain the wisdom and knowledge necessary to succeed. Yes, it was complete foolishness. Paisley knew it was all superstition, but she'd fancied that she'd done quite well on the exam and attributed it all directly to her bun.
The day had grown old though, and Paisley had long since been finished with class work. She'd even managed, miraculously, to complete all her homework for the following day. So, she headed into the Ravenclaw Common Room to mingle with her fellow wise students. Paisley always laughed to herself on that note. Ravenclaws were so wise, so brilliant! She was just Paisley, a little bit silly, a little bit childish, and always just Paisley. So, she spotted the nearest person she knew and grinned. It was Delilah, right? Paisley danced a little step closer and put on her curious expression. She leaned over the back of Delilah's chair and peered down at the book in her hands.
"Interesting. What's it about?" She asked, genuinely wondering. Honestly, Paisley just liked the feel of an old book. She thought there was secretly magic in the appearance of all things. There had to be! Why else would sunsets look so lovely and who would snow be so cold and yet tingly even when it smacked your face after a friend threw a ball of it at you! Pais figured, there was magic in life, even without the fact that they were attending a school of magic. She awaited Delilah's response and knew she was making herself much too at home in an awkward position. Paisley tip toed her way over to the chair next to Delilah's and plopped herself down in it. She smiled encouragingly, trying to be open to conversation.

Delilah turned the old and battered book towards Paisley so she could see the inside. The words were written in the same glittering gold ink that the cover was. It was also written in French, which happened to be Delilah's native dialect.
" It iz a French fairytale. A uh, how you say, muggle French fairytale. "
The words rolled off her tongue beautifully but, being that English is not her native language, with some difficulty.
" Lumière Du Soleil, ze name of zis book, it means Sunlight or Sunshine. "
She wasn't an overly talkative simply because her English was not as up to par as it should have been. She had really hoped to be a much fluent speaker by time she started to attend her first year here. Her intense English course had not gone as great as she would have wanted. But being so crunched for time, it was a feat.

Ace Curtis walked swiftly down the winding staircase into the Ravenclaw common room, multiple books in hand, searching for her notebook. Her currently tinted orange hair fell into her eyes as she glanced to the two girls sitting and talking. Ace smiled, trying to seem polite, she was looking to make friends, something she wasn't usually good at having been a loner for the majority of her childhood. Ace quietly inhaled and exhaled, trying to make her nerves disappear.
"Um, hi, I don't mean to interrupt..." She paused, watching as the girls focused their attention on her, "But have you seen a purple notebook anywhere? I lost it and it has…" Ace stopped, trying not to give too much detail. The purple notebook was her journal, her lifeline, her best friend at Hogwarts. Her purple notebook also was something she always misplaced, seeing she carried it everywhere with her.
Her tone changed as she continued, "A lot of important things in it. Oh! I'm Ace Curtis, by the way.” What a great introduction, Ace thought to herself, biting her lower lip and looking around the room nervously.

Delilah looked up at the girl, then down at her lap, then back up. Searching for the correct words to phrase her thoughts with.
" Iz...purpool yoo zay? "
She racked her brain to try and think if she had ever seen it laying around the dorms. She chewed on her lips.
" I have not zeen it but yoo shoold try looking unda yoor bed. "
Delilah smiled & hoped she had made sense.
" Iz always ze place I find zings I have lost. "
She pushed a strand of thick copper hair behind a petite ear smiled once again.

A petite, blonde girl came stumbling through the Common Room door carrying various suitcases, one of which slipped out of her hand and opened as it hit the floor, its contents spilling out.
"Shoot!" She muttered. Her cheeks flushed bright pink with embarrassment as she set down the rest of her bags and her trunk as gracefully as possible. She bent down and began stuffing her belongings into the fallen suitcase and quickly fastened it closed.
The girl sat down on her trunk, looked up, and noticed three girls that, as it seemed, she had interupted with her small accident.
"Hi. I'm Effy."

Delilah cocked her head to the side, watching the new girl.
" Bonjour. I aum Delilah Bon Iver. Iz a pleasure to mech yoo. "
She closed her book and placed it on her lap. Her long fingers came together and she placed them on top of the book.
" Effy iz a cute name, "
Delilah smiled.
" Iz also easier fo me to zay zen many of ze ozer students namez. "
She giggled lightly. Her accent coating each of her words heavily.

Amira had just stepped into the room when she tripped over her robes. Blushing furiously, she got up and dusted herself off. She saw a couple of other girls; one with a ridiculously tight bun, one redhead, and one petite blonde. They seemed pretty nice so she swept her long, brown hair back and walked up to them. "Hey there, I'm Amira", she said smiling.

"Hello, I'm Effy," she said, wondering if it was common of Ravenclaws to be uncoordinated as they came through the Common Room door.

"Nice to meet you, um yeah I'm going to warn you now that me tripping is a regular occurence", Amira laughed nervously. It was true, for some strange reason she was was perfectly fine walking in the bumpy trails in California but flat ground combined with long robes spelled disaster for her. "I'm going to go unpack my stuff", she looked at Effy's luggage questioningly," Didn't the house elves take your stuff already?"

Ace stood on the side watching as the others spoke to each other, spotting her notebook in the corner of the room. She smirked to herself and walked carefully towards there, balancing the books in her arms. Ace picked up her notebook, then realized she didn't introduce herself. She nodded towards Amira and Effy, knowing them from past experience in their year. "How was everyone's summer?" She questioned.

"Hey Ace, it was good. Glad to be back though", Amira replied. It was true, even though California was pretty fun, it couldn't compare to Hogwarts. "How about you?"

"My summer was okay, but yeah, I'm glad to be back. It seems as if someone played a practical joke, a bad one at that, and got some people's luggage sent elsewhere. We really need to do something about Peeves. I'm go put my stuff away, too, Amira." Effy picked up her luggage and headed off towards the Girls Dormitory.
