David sat quietly in a large armchair near the fire. He thought to himself about what this year would be like. Would it be awkward for him? Probably, seeing as he was transferring into Hogwarts as a fourth year. So far today no one had really spoken to him, and his first impression of the school was not so great with the news of Sirius Black being on the run and the castle being occupied by Dementors.
David continued to think about these things, occasionally looking about the Common Room at the people that were going to be his family for the next few years.

Cho entered the common room a tad late, she just walked a bit slower than usual today. She went straight to the Girl's Dormitory; she didn't have the energy to converse with anyone for the rest of the night.

Gavin turned his direction to Cho and waved to her, hoping he saw her. But why hope? He should stand out! "Glad to see you made it back okay, Cho," Gavin said with a smile. But his smile quickly faded. That... did not come out as planned. "N-not that I'm saying that I was expecting you, or thought you got in trouble or hurt, " he said defensively, "but um... how are you?" he let out a nervous laugh and smiled cheesily. Alas... she did not hear him. Maybe Cho wasn't paying attention. Too many negative thoughts rushed through his mind. Gavin was frowning and turned his direction back to his essay, frustrated at his fail attempt to talk to her.

Amira went over to the huge couch she had been sitting on before, not talking to Effy who seemed intent on working on her homework, and noticed a new ravenclaw siiting near her. He was blonde and looked slightly older, she hadn't seen him previously and wondered if he was new. She decided to introduce herself," Hey I'm Amira. What's your name?"

David looked over to the girl who had spoken to him, "Hi, Amira, I'm David," he introduced himself to her.

Gavin overheard the conversation between David and Amira. "I don't think he could be new..." Gavin interrupted and looked at Amira, "he doesn't appear to be a first year."

"Me? I'm... Gavin," Gavin felt uncomfortable with introductions in his own house. It showed how separated the students really were. "And I know you are Amira," he said with a smile.

"Haha sorry. I'm usually in my own little world so I didn't remember. I think I remember bumping into in you the library last year", Amira replied, laughing at her herself. She felt really bad for not remembering his name. "So... don't you think it's weird how someone escaped from Azkaban? It's pretty scary."
(ooc: did you mean to put your gender as female? sorry I couldnt help but notice.)

"Oh wait, I'll be right back I forgot something in the dormitory. Give me a second", Amira said before she rushed off to get her bag.

"It's happened before... it will be fixed before you know it," Gavin said distantly as he finished his paper. He sometimes thought he would be a Gryffindor, but his apathy was not the same as courage. "I wouldn't be too worried."

"I'm a fourth year. I just transfered here this year, so that's why you haven't seen me before."

Amira came back and set her bag down. She turned to David and said,"Oh, that makes sense, where from?" Then she replied to Gavin,"I guess... Easier said than done." She laughed nervously.
