Theo moved his hand to her knee and squeezed hopefully not startling her.
His father looked at her carefully and nodded again before turning to Theo. "You've either trained her well or she is actually competent. Which is it?"
"Father, do you honestly think I would chose someone not worthy of our name?" He glared back at his and started to rub Lydia's knee gently. "I am in charge of her, not you."

Lydia sat listening, wanting to aim a kick at his father under the table but knowing much better than that. The thought calmed her though as she thought back to the conversation the night before. She realized her heart had calmed as well, partly due to Theo's hand on her knee.

The older man looked back to Lydia, ignoring Theo. "Tell me about your family. I know of your father, what about the rest?"

Cedric came in sporting his hair matching rabbit ears with Blake on his back. He smiled to Madam Rosmerta and used his head to ask her for a table by the window by jerking it towards it, for his party of three. The kind barmaid nodded and shooed them to the table to have them seated for order taking.

Amber looked over at Theodore, his father, & Lydia and it seemed not to be going well. She sighed hoping Lydia was not upset since she did in fact look it. She ordered another butterbeer and looked around the place.

Blake shut the umbrella he had been using from Cedric to shield them and shook it away from both of them as was carried on to the table. His ears flopped a bit with Cedric's steps as he held on, seeing a very serious faced man with a strong aura and presence. He wouldn't want to be Lydia, but he wouldn't make it harder for her, so he didn't acknowledge the table with any form of greeting, only briefly looked.

Nyssa sat down with Cedric and Blake. She looked around the room. There were an awful lot of Slytherins in there today.

"My mother is a housewife. My grandmother is quite traditional as well. They've both taught me the only correct way for a young lady to behave." She explained, indicating that she had taken these lessons to heart, as much of a lie as that was. "I am sorry to say that I do not have any brothers." She added in a tone that suggested she was displeased with herself as she was their only child and that they had not had a proper heir.

Theo continued to rub her knee gently. "Father, that is enough with the questioning." He took a sip of his drink and set it back down. "You have your information, stop."
The man turned his head slowly. "Son, if you weren't useful to me I don't think I would be able to tolerate you." He finished his mead and stood looking around the room. "If you will excuse me, I will be back in a moment." He walked off in the direction of the restrooms.

Lydia waited for him to be gone before sighing lightly and taking Theo's hand under the table, squeezing it gently to tell him she was okay. She looked to him with a small smile. "I'm alright." She whispered softly.

"It's not as bad as I thought it'd be." She replied honestly. "I'm okay." She nodded.

He nodded again as he saw his father returning and scanning the room. The man walked back to the table and looked to Theo. "Who are those students by the window? One of them look familiar." Theo looked over to where his father was looking. "You most likely recognize Diggory. The others are of no consequence."
His father nodded. "Absurd to be dressed like that." He turned back to the table. "I should take my leave. Ms. Evans it was a pleasure to meet you. I would like to speak to you outside." He looked to Theo.

Lydia nodded once more before smiling politely once more. She held her tongue, deciding against saying anything, though prepared to tell him that she would be glad to have the honour again should he ask if there was an appropriate time to tell him so.
