Neko sat and watched the fireplace again. "I wonder what would happen if you tried to use floo powder from here... Since the common room fireplaces aren't part of the floo powder network, do you suppose you would just burn up?"
She wasn't sure exactly where the question came from. It just popped into her head as a good way to change the subject.

Griffin thought for a moment, seriously turning the idea over in his mind.
"I suppose you'd probably just burn up, I mean if it's not connected. Why?"

"Well, I was just thinking that if the common room firelpaces were connected, what would be the point of needing a password to get in when people could just come through there? I'm not sure why, it's just a thought that came into my head." She explained.
"Awfully quiet in here isn't it?"

Griffin looked around the common room slowly.
"I wonder why..." his voice trailed off as his eyes came to rest on the fireplace.

"That's good." Neko said. She then stood up and began to wander around the common room. After playing with a few random things she found sitting on a table she paced back and plopped down on the couch. "I'm so bored!"

Griffin nodded. "Me too." He looked over at Neko sitting. Something pushed him to start a conversation with her but he couldn't come up with anything interesting to say. He opened his mouth as if he was going to say something but quickly closed it and try to think of something to say.

Neko reached her hand into the cushions of the couch and pulled out some money that one of her classmates must have lost. She raised her eyebrows a bit with a pleased expression and shoved the money into her pocket. "You okay? You look like you were about to say something."

Griffin just sat there a moment, mesmerized by something in the distance. "What? Oh um no." He rose from his seat and walked to the window. "Do you have anything you want to talk about?"
