The West Tower: The Owlery

[Nyssa Pond]

"I shouldn't have said that," Nyssa said still shocked at what she had said. She looked down at her knees swinging her feet back and forth.

[Jake Crawley]

"You were right," Jake said. "Don't worry about telling me things like that. He's not so bad really. Bothersome, but I guess a lot of people have that."

[Nyssa Pond]

"I dunno," Nyssa said. "I guess I've just never heard you say anything nice about your dad."

[Jake Crawley]

"He's... rich," Jake said laughing trying to think of something. "I don't know it's different in my family, our relationship."

[Nyssa Pond]

"I can tell," Nyssa said leaning her head on his shoulder. "You at least get along well with your mother though. How did you handle her attempt to interrogate me by the way?"

[Jake Crawley]

Jake smiled. "I told her if she kept bugging you I would stop writing to her completely. She got the message," he said.

[Nyssa Pond]

Nyssa smiled. "You know a lot about my family but I only the basics about yours. How did that happen?" she teased.

[Jake Crawley]

"Because I sit around asking you those random questions," Jake said.

[Nyssa Pond]

"Alright, tell me more about them," Nyssa said.

[Jake Crawley]

"I told you my dad works at the Ministry and my mum stays home," Jake said. "What else, I mean in specific."

[Nyssa Pond]

"Well, what part of the Ministry does your dad work for?" Nyssa asked playing with his hand.

[Jake Crawley]

"The Department of Magical Transportation," Jake said. "He's the head of the Portkey department."

[Nyssa Pond]

"Interesting," Nyssa said not knowing much about porkeys. She knew the theory but had never used one.

[Jake Crawley]

"You think so?" Jake asked. "He can go on and on for hours about it, dead boring."

[Nyssa Pond]

"Sounds like my dad with fencing," Nyssa laughed.
