"I apologize, Mr. Malfoy," Gavin said, lacing his hands, almost mocking Draco. In all honesty he didn't intend to mock him. Gavin looked at Draco, realizing his position and Gavin unlaced his hands. "And my parents most definitely taught my manner. I'd rather have you not question their parenting," Gavin said. "I appreciate your acceptance to be my partner. I would like to have a partner knowledgeable in the subject, rather than working someone inadequate. Nobody else seemed appealing compared to you."

Griffin nodded catching his breath. He quickly ate, seeing as Draco was eating. "I'll leave you two alone," he said and walked out of the Great HAll.

Draco curiously looked after Griffin, wondering what reason there was to be left alone with Gavin. He turned back to the Ravenclaw boy, "Apology accepted Mr. Dean. I apologize for coming off rudely and extend my apology to your family and your family honor. Please. Eat." Draco motioned for Gavin to serve himself.

Gavin nodded at Draco's offer, "thank you, Mr. Malfoy," Gavin said as a plate and cup of tea appeared. Gavin helped himself to crispy potatoes, which Draco made extremely appetizing. He didn't want to appear rude infront of his partner by eating heavily... but he did not want to offend him by not eating a lot, so Gavin also helped himself to some strawberries and roast beef. Gavin was at lost for words. Draco looked starving, so he let him eat for a moment and Gavin took some bites of food. "Do you have any working requirements for transfiguration? Such as designated home work area or workload?" Class was a good start.

Draco nodded and was thankful when Gavin didn't speak for a moment, allowing him to eat steadily. He began to feel less tired, though food was not going to help the dark circles under his eyes. He vaguely wondered if he'd sleep tonight, considering asking Pomfrey or Professor Snape for a sleeping draught. When Gavin began to speak, Draco sifted out of his thoughts. "I require no working elements but a neutral ground to complete our work together. I do believe you would not be very openly welcome in the snake pit, nor I in your common room. The workload should be split as evenly as possible. You probably do not want any more work than you already have and I have no desire for such a thing either." Draco then politely requested Gavin answer the same questions he was posed.

"I agree that neither of us would be welcome," Gavin said, good that the two agreed on another matter. "I agree splitting up the work equally, and when I'm done with my half, I will give you my work so you can take notes on what you did not do, if you wish," Gavin said, then took a bite on the crispy potato, his favorite. The food at Hogwarts was always delicious. It was the best part about being here. Gavin gazed at Draco, paying more attention to the heavy bags, but turning his eyes away so he would not get caught staring. "Did the professors order the prefects to monitor the hallways at night?" Gavin wondered, especially since he applied to be a prefect. "Ravenclaw is in need of a good prefect, it's almost ridiculous how we have to wait for grades to come in, especially in this time where students are out of line, sneaking out for the thrill of danger. They need to be in line." Gavin said, attempting to make conversation.

Draco felt uncomfortable for some reason, talking so easily to a school member that did not belong to Slytherin. It was natural in the most unnatural of ways, though he supposed it was not as bad as it could have been. This boy was a Ravenclaw after all, and the ability to hold a civil conversation could pertain to the fact that he had a mind unlike the rest of the buffoons at the school. Draco responded after a sip from his goblet, "An exchange of notes would be agreeable, yes." He felt Gavin gaze at him curiously but did not lift his own gaze, taking a small bite out of a sausage. Draco was surprised when Gavin asked him about Prefect duties, "We were not explicitly ordered, but I took it upon myself to do so. There are some students that do not comprehend the regulations set down for their safety and as a Prefect, I feel it is my duty to fix their mindlessness. And I do not see your Prefect around as often as I should, nor any Prefect for that matter. I quite agree with you, in that students should be put in line when there are rules set. But I disagree, when I say if they do so desire to break the rules.. they should not get caught. Do you feel you could do a better job than the current Prefect of your house?"

Gavin cleared his throat, "I do. I believe I can do a much better job than our current Prefect. Actually, we don't even have a male Prefect," Gavin said and took a sip from his tea. "I sent an owl to the headmaster for my application, but he said he would get back to me," he sighed slightly. He wanted that prefect position. He wanted to follow his mother's footsteps. "Members in my house are sneaking around, I've heard, and I don't believe they should get away with that. But if they do get hurt or in trouble, it is their own fault." Gavin thought of his own members in his house. "The only other competition I think I have is with Mr. Calloway, but he recently transferred to Hogwarts, I don't know how he did, but I believe I would have a better shot at becoming a Prefect..." Gavin stopped his rants about becoming a Prefect. He did not want to bore Draco on his life story.

Pansy walked up to the table. Choosing not to take her usual place which was next to Draco she sat a few seats away. Putting a few potatoes on her plate and grabbing a roll.

Amber started walking towards the syltherin table before she stopped and saw a ravenclaw boy talking to Draco. "Who does he think he is, coming over to OUR table" Amber muttered under her breath before taking a seat near.

Amber got up and walked over to Pansy who was sitting near by "Who does that Ravenclaw think he is, coming over to our table. You don't see me going their table" Amber scowled taking a seat across Pansy.

Draco smirked a little when he saw Gavin was becoming flustered and rambling. It was amusing, and as such, he did nothing to stop it. Instead, he ate and gave the occasional nod or made a sound of agreement. When Gavin ceased in his rambling, Draco dabbed the corners of his mouth with a napkin and spoke, "It seems you have a great deal of desire for this position, and I must say, ambition. Is there any particular reason for this, Mr. Dean?" At Pansy and Amber's entrance, Draco looked over to them both and gave them nods of acknowledgment. He knew perfectly well how Amber felt, her facial expression one akin to someone who was around Hippogriff excrement.

"So" Amber said changing the subject "Headmaster spoke to me and told me the spring ball is coming along well and she is going to annouce the date soon" Amber smiled.

Pansy hadn't even looked their direction since entering. She turned her head to see Draco sitting there nodding at what the Ravenclaw was saying. She didn't understand why Draco had let him sit there either. "I know," she answered Amber. "Has Snape gotten back to you with your grade?" She was still watching Draco.
