"True that," Gavin raised his goblet in the air to Draco's true words. He took a sip and ate some more food. "How is your family doing?" he asked.

Draco chuckled slightly and mimicked Gavin in his toast to the truth before sipping from his own goblet. "My family is well as always, but tell me, how is your mother?"

"My mother is doing great," Gavin replied, "she's finally opening a shop in Diagon Alley so she spends her time there when she is not doing catering," he said.

"A shop? Really now. I'll have to owl mother and let her know if she already doesn't. You know Pure-blooded women and their gossip.." Draco sighed in a suffering manner and set his fork down. "Tell me, is your mother a gossip?"

"You know, I can't say for sure," Gavin said, recalling if he over heard and conversation he overheard from his mother. "She always told me to stay out of other's business so if she does gossip it is out of my knowledge."

"Mm." Draco made a sound to let Gavin know he heard him though he didn't know what to respond to that. As a Slytherin, you learn to make the business other people your business for your advantage.

"Do you see much of Freya?" Gavin asked Draco. He normally saw the girl and the boy together, but not lately. "Is she doing alright? I'm not asking for interest- merely curiosity."

Draco stopped sipping from his goblet and slowly brought it down. "No. I don't see her very much at all," he replied a little curtly while he set down his goblet with a solid thump. "A pity, really."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Gavin said as he finished his plate of spaghetti. "How are your housemates doing?"

"They're fine, and as eager for a break as I am for we all have our plans- from frolicking about the globe to independent studies." Draco pushed his plate away and picked up his goblet again, "What of yours, as much as I don't care."

"Attempting to make things lively," Gavin replied as he pushed his plate in front of him. He was glade he ate. "Independent studies? Leaving Hogwarts?"

"Not leaving, well, I know I'm not. I'm just pursuing a mentor of sorts in hopes of learning more about business so I have training when I take over the head of my family," Draco sipped from his goblet, wishing somewhat that he was leaving the school.

"Ah, well best of luck to you," Gavin said to Draco. Draco had much bigger things planned for him, at most Gavin would own pastry shops and run everything.

"Thank you though Malfoy men and women make their own luck," Draco smirked a little and finished off his goblet, setting it down much more gently than he had earlier. "You'll keep in touch in the future, won't you Gavin? I can make you a very successful man if you play your cards right."

"I'm not planning to cut off ties any time soon," Gavin said. He wasn't. The Malfoy-English-Dean business remained strong for years. "Tell me," he turned around before looking back at Draco, "what do you think of Effy Brookes?"
