Theo pulled out his pocket watch. "Twenty minutes after." He shrugged. "Suddenly concerned? I don't want you to get too cold. We should probably go back but I need lots of mush later to make up for missing you."

She smiled. "We've really got to stop calling it that. It does sound pretty bad." She laughed and shivered. "Yeah, let's go inside. I'm getting a bit cold."

"I know that's why I keep saying it..." He put his arm around her. "Come on then." He led her off to the castle.

She smiled and stuck close.

Effy walked along the lake's edge, the cool water running over her bare feet. Her hair was flying loose in the wind, and she was calm. Effy gathered a few stones and waded into the water so the hem of her skirt was just about to touch the water's surface. She began to skip rocks across the lake, counting how many times they jumped.

Arya wrapped the Hufflepuff scarf around her neck. The wind was blowing and the weather was nippy, but the sky was looking beautiful this evening. She hugged herself to keep warm and walked around the lake, walking around trees, picking up pinecones and tossing them about.

Oliver slowly traversed towards the edge of the lake with nothing on but his school uniform to keep him warm. His skin welcomed the sharp cold. He was far too dazed to care. Oliver looked up to see Arya. A small grin began to appear on his face, and he started to sprint towards his good friend. He hit her suddenly, draping an arm on her shoulders, leaning down a bit to rest his weight on her short stature. "Hey there, Huffie."

Arya turned her head towards Oliver and smiled up at him. "Hey there..." Arya trailed off, trying to think of something witty to call him, "...Puffie!" she said brightly. "How's it going, Oli?" she asked, slouching a little when he put his arm over her shoulder.

"Nothing much," he said nonchalantly but his tone left a slight hint. "I'm the same old behaved and disciplined boy you knew," Oliver said trying to keep a straight face. Both of them knew very well that he was quite mischievous. "You?"

Arya stuck her tongue out at him, "same old behaved and disiplined boy I know? I belive you are mistaking me for the wrong person," she said, ducking to get away from his arm and turned to face him. "You're so silly, Oli." she said, "as for me, I'm glad it's the weekend. A lot of girls are posting pictures of their dresses for the ball... some have a lot of dresses picked out," she said, about to get into a girl rant. Arya did not like to talk about dances with guys, but Oliver was there for Arya during her princess-dress up stage, and this was close. "I haven't even looked yet. I'm not in a rush, I think I might make it a surprise, you know? Make my dress the best," she grinned.

Oliver laughed at his friend's funny antics, his laughter ringing in the silent night air. "Okay okay," he held his arms up, "you got me."
"Dresses you say? We definitely need to find you one. Perhaps we can go tomorrow. That way, you can help me find mine too!" he said with a chuckle. "And speaking of dresses, has someone asked you out yet?" he asked curiously. He wanted to know who he needed to beat up when Arya gets stood up.

"Oh I hope you don't mean ball gown dress!" Arya exclaimed when Oliver mentioned getting his formal wear, "you did mean robes, right?" she said. "Robe wearing of men is so weird," she said, "it's so different compared to tuxedos, which is what we are used to," Arya said. She shook her head when he asked her if she had a date. "Nah, and it's okay, really. It would be nice if someone asks me, but I'm not completely desperate," she said, "how about you? You planning on asking someone?" she asked, playfully punching his arm.

"What?" he said quizzically, "you don't think I can wear a dress?" he joked. "I think I'll be wearing a tux. It's a lot more comfortable than those frilly and swishing dress robes," Oli said with a face scruched up with disgust. "Ow," he complained when she punched her, his hand soothing his arm even if it didn't hurt at all. "I haven't got any date too," he said. Dramatically sighing, Oliver said, "I guess I have to settle for you as my date then." He shot a crooked smile at her, knowing she wouldn't take his joke seriously.

Arya gasped and her eyes widened, "settle?!" she exclaimed in disbelief, "what do youmean, you have to settle for me?" Arya attacked him, completely joking of course. She crossed her arms and turned her head away, "you should not have to settle for me, I should have to settle for you!" she said, then bursted out laughing, unable to continue pretending to be mad at Oliver. Her hands were now at her hips, " seriously, Oliver," she truned to him, "are you thinking aboutt anyone to ask? "

"Whatever, I know you'll drool on me for my good looks," he said and sent a wink her way. "I intend to ask no one," he said. "Seriously, I don't want to waste my breath on girls I barely know, let alone those who put on tons of make-up." Oliver has always been satisfied with being at parties with Arya. He was kind of a stuttering idiot in front of girls so he didn't want to risk getting humiliated. "So, just to formally ask you, would you go to the ball with me?"
