"That's because I am so amazing." He joked. "I missed you too."

She smiled, kissing him quickly only to hear someone clear their throat. "Whoops."

Theo turned around quickly to see who had interrupted them.

Lydia looked horribly embarrassed when she spun to see her father standing there, one eyebrow arched. She laughed weakly. "H-Hi daddy."

Theo dropped his arm from her waist and walked over to the man. "Sir, we have not properly met. I'm Theodore, Theodore Nott. It is a pleasure to meet you. I have only heard the best of words about yourself and your wife from Lydia." He extended his hand, shaking Mr. Evans hand firmly.

Lydia's father raised a brow. "An admirable attempt at correcting the situation." He shook Theodore's hand firmly. "Although I can't help but question my daughter's judgement on if this is the best place to be acting that way."
Lydia blushed and tried her best not to show how embarrassed she was. "No one's around..."

Theo nodded. "I beg to differ Sir. Ms. Evans was upset when she arrived in the common room and needed some air to clear her mind and to get away from our fellow students, almost all of whom are occupied in the Great Hall or in their common rooms. The only people present would be someone looking for the both of us."

Mr. Evans' quizzical look did not cease. "I see. From what I hear you've been rather supportive of my daughter during this difficult time. I imagine I should thank you as I do not like to see her upset. As you can imagine it is worrisome considering she is generally in a rather pleasant mood."
Lydia smiled kicking at a stone slightly before looking up. "He's been wonderful."

"There is no need to thank me Sir. I am quite fond of your daughter and it also upsets me not to see her uplifting personality so I sympathize with your concerns, Mr. Evans." He walked over to Lydia and took her hand. "I assure you her happiness is my top priority."

"I must ask," Mr. Evans seemed to be coming to the point of his questions. "Just how deeply these feeling run." He fixed Theo with a stare that suggested the wrong answer might not be a good thing. "If your intentions are merely to continue on for a short time I'll ask you to end it now."
Lydia looked to her father quickly. "What? That's not fair! How are we to know what the outcome will be? You can't ask him something like that so suddenly!"

Theo looked back at Mr. Evans and squeezed Lydia's hand. "Again, with all do respect Sir, your daughter and I have just begun our relationship. In fact, before you arrived I was going to ask her if she wanted me to formally court her. As I have yet to have that conversation with her I can not answer you, as her feelings should also be taken into consideration. I can tell you that I have no intention of hurting her and that I do feel strongly towards her."

"See Daddy I-" Lydia blinked and looked to Theo. "Formally court?" She blushed furiously.
"Would it not be a good idea to ask permission first?" He almost cracked a smile at Lydia's reaction. "From me of course."

Theo nodded. "Yes, I understand that but surely you can understand my desire to speak with your daughter first as to not... make a fool of myself if it was not her wish. I of course would have contacted you immediately if she agreed." He smiled warmly at Lydia.

There was a long silence in which Mr. Evans seemed to examine Theo. "It seems I've spoiled your surprise then." He said finally. "Have you spoken to your father on the matter. Your family is rather well know and I imagine that he may have some thoughts, or at least he would want to know."
At the mention of Theo's father Lydia felt a nerve twitch though she hid it.

Theo let out a small smile. "That's quite all right, Sir. I understand your desire to make sure Ms. Evans is safe and taken care of." He turned serious once again. "My father rarely has any need or desire to speak with me. His thoughts on this particular subject do not matter to me. Not because I disrespect him or my heritage, but our views on certain matters differ greatly. He and I have come to the understanding that soon I will be in charge of the Nott family and that I will be making my own decisions."
