Nyssa just shook her head realizing how stupid it was for her to cry. That thought joined with the million others that were buzzing around in her mind. Fear of rejection, change, losing what she had collided with regrets too many to mention. She held on to Jake hoping that doing so would stop everything.

Jake moved and held her with both arms around her, rubbing her back. "It's alright, Nyssa," he whispered into her hair.

Nyssa pressed her face into his shoulder praying to stop crying. There was a time and a place for this nonsense and it wasn't here and now.

Nyssa took a deep breath and stammered "S-s-sorry." She took another deep breath and wiped her eyes before attempting a small, fake, very unconvincing smile.

Nyssa could feel more tears coming. She stood up quickly and muttered something about needing to get back. She went to pick up the cage of cocoons completely flustered. She didn't want to cry in front of Jake again but her determination not to cry was distracting her from what she was doing.

Nyssa stopped and took another deep breath before turning to face Jake. She was starting to shake a little from the effort of trying not to cry.

Jake walked up and wrapped his arms around her, engulfing her in his arms. "Nyssa, you don't have to fight it. I don't care if you cry. I would rather you be here with me so you aren't alone dealing with this."

Nyssa's resolve weakened as soon as she was in his arms. "I can't believe I'm crying. This is so stupid," she said beating herself up again.
