Fred took a few quick steps to catch up to Blake. "Eh, but they'd just be finishing cleaning up now. We'll go later, when they're less busy. Besides, this place isn't safe, especially to second years like yourself."

George also caught up. He puffed out his chest and added, "Yeah, better to be with adults like us."

Blake looked between the two and huffed, speeding up his pace. He could very well take care of himself well enough to survive!

Fred sped up, "Woah, aren't you a fast one. No need to be offended. We were just teasing."

George picked up his pace, surprised at Blake's reaction. "We're sorry mate. To be honest, there's a lot in here than even some of the teachers couldn't handle, so we're all in the same boat," he laughed. "We didn't mean anything by it. Really," he said earnestly, hoping that Blake wasn't too annoyed.

Blake slowed back down when he had been apologized to, even if it was followed up with an unnecessary explanation. He looked forward and said nothing now but returned to humming the Irish lullaby.

Fred put his hands in his pockets and looked around, his eyes staring out into the abyss. It was like they were completely isolated, yet, not alone. As if...the abyss was staring back at him.
"So, you come out here often, I take it?" Fred looked around. It was very peaceful. If you could manage to get past the creepiness that permeated the place.

"When time allows me, I come to take a solitary walk and occasionally I'll have company." Blake clasped his hands behind him, long hair pulled over one shoulder now.

"Mhm." Fred thought he heard a noise behind them. He turned his head but saw nothing. "Ever gotten caught? That's what we were worried about. We know Professie Snoop likes to come out here for ingredients, and we'd hate to lose points at his greasy hands."

George stopped as they passed a berry bush. He picked a couple and smelled one, but promptly dropped them, as they smelled like old socks. He hurried his pace and resumed strolling with the other two.

Blake immediately glared at Fred. His indigo eyes bored into him and he spoke in a very cold, low and hissing voice, "It would do you well not to insult my head of house for he is a great professor and very brilliant at that, not at all how you and your house portray him. Perhaps I should return to my common room and find myself company that is not inept."

Fred stopped in his tracks, his mouth slightly open. "Wow. Well, he is a real git sometimes. And not like that's exclusive to him. McGonagall can be a real prick too."

George also stopped. "Uh, yeah, Blake, no offense but you've changed. We kind of hoped you'd be better than all the pure-blood 'royalty' our there, but I can see we might have been wrong. Look, we don't mean you any insult or offense. You're actually the one Slytherin who we don't find repulsive."

Fred nodded, "Now, we like you. You're cool. You can be yourself around us. You can withhold this pure-blood mask you put on and just be you. We won't tell anyone. If not, then we'll stay out of your way. We don't want to close any doors here, but this formal pure-blood code of conduct just isn't in us. Hell, most of the pure-bloods see us as blood traitors anyway. Look, we're going to go get something to eat. We wouldn't want you to be seen with our kind. We might get you dirty. Who knows, we could have a mudblood in our family."

George turned to leave. "We'll leave you to your thoughts, then. After all, this was your walk. If you decide we can go back to how things were before your departure, send us an owl. We'll be looking forward to it. If not, well, then I guess we can meet over tea and biscuits once a month. We've got dress robes. And we wouldn't want to change you. But there's only so much of that we can take, so don't take it personally."
