"Oh, I totally forgot that you were a fourh year," Charlotte said, laughing. "Sorry, I'm a little out of it."

"It's okay," Gavin said and waved his hand to shake it off, "I guess that's nice that you think I'm older? Shows maturity, maybe?"

"Maybe..." Charlotte said sarcastically. "No, you're very mature for a fifteen year old."

"Everyone likes to talk to me sarcastically. It's weird," Gavin held his chin on his palm. "But thank you, Charlotte. I appreciate that."

"Sarcasm is fun, it's just like a little joke," Charlotte said. "Although it can be used in a mean way, as well."

"I know," Gavin replied to Charlotte. "So, any guys hit on you the first week of school?" Gavin joked.

"Um..." Charlotte thought for a moment, "No, I don't think so."

"That's good. Ravenclaws will break your heart," Gavin said with a small laugh, "you're better off dating someone from another house, probably."

"Really? Why do you say that?" Charlotte asked, thinking of the boy, who she assumed was David, who everyone kept speaking of, that she had spoken to the other night.

"Well, take me for example. I'll be in the hospital for sometime, completely ignore you and probably yell at you because I'm annoyed of the medicine and I want to get better. Or you'll be cheated on, or you'll cheat on somebody. You'll probably never find anything to talk about during your relationship, and then hate and yell at them afterwards," Gavin said, describing the relationships of him and Nyssa and David and Amira.

"Yes, but that's common with most relationships. Though, I suppose it'd be easier to avoid the person if they were in another house. But on the note of not having anything to talk about, I do think that it just depends on the person. Maybe the relationships you have in mind just weren't compatible," she said, hoping that this would not be the case with the boy who liked Vonnegut.

"Meh, everything I described was about relationships here in Ravenclaw, so best of luck to you," Gavin said to Charlotte. He took off his shoes. "But then again, you can't judge a book by its cover."

"I'm sure that it just depends on the person. Like I said, maybe they just weren't compatable," she said. "What about you? Have you been hit on by any girls? Do you have any crushes on anyone?" she asked.

Gavin shook his head, "nope and nope. I have my reasons though," Gavin said.

"And what are those reasons?" Charlotte asked, curious as to why Gavin was so pessimistic about relationships.
