Jake walked into the office and took a seat. "I'm sure you are Professor," he said nodding. "Although I can not say I regret my actions."

Minerva, in a bout of rarity, sank into her chair and wearily removed her glasses to bring her hand up to her eyes, rubbing them tiredly, "I thought as much." She straightened up slightly and sighed while she folded her hands on top of her desk and looked directly at Jake. "It is only fair I hear your side of the entire situation, so please, explain just exactly what drove you to punch a Prefect."

Jake nodded knowing her to be fair, unlike the greasy git in the dungeons. "Well you see Professor. Dean is under the impression that he used to date my girlfriend and is bitter about our relationship. He came upon us as we were saying good night to one another," Jake started. "He has been upsetting Nyssa about our relationship and I was tired of seeing he cry because of him, she ran off right before the incident. To be honest Professor he used his Prefect powers against me, just because he is a Prefect I am not allowed to say anything back to him?" Jake sighed and paused. "I punched him because it was pent up anger with him from how I felt about him personally that came out after seeing Nyssa upset. He deserved it."

Minerva sat and listened as Jake very coherently and clearly explained his side of what she figured transpired in a matter of seconds. She could see how both boys were in the right for what they did and how they reacted, and how a young man like Mr. Crawley could get so frustrated and act on impulse, but even so she had to punish him. "Although you have not demonstrated to me how he exactly used his 'Prefect powers' against you Mr. Crawley, I sympathize with your situation and honorable actions in protecting your girlfriend, her best interest and her emotions. But, I am afraid I cannot simply turn the other way for you see the fact still remains, you struck another student and a Prefect no less. I am not attempting to smother your right of speech in doing what I must but as I do not know what was said, I do not know if what you said in return was logical or if you were taking jibes, if he was taking jibes, et cetera." She gazed sadly at Jake, "As much as this pains me Mr. Crawley, I must removed forty points from Gryffindor and give you detention. I will also be checking the common room every night for the rest of this week to assure you are in your proper place by curfew."

"He was using his Prefect powers by not letting me retort to anything he says he has done it before as well. If I say anything he takes more points for talking back." Jake nodded. "I did not expect you to turn the other way nor did I want you to. I will gladly take my punishment, Professor. I would like it to be known that I was not breaking curfew tonight and was back in the common room in time," Jake said, knowing he was only minutes late.

Minerva's thinned lips stayed thin and puckered as if she had one of the Headmaster's famed lemon drops within her mouth, "I will be speaking his Head of House and I will bring it up to the Headmaster Mr. Crawley, if that would make you feel better. I have, in all my years, never heard of a Prefect abusing their power so carelessly and I would not like it to begin now or ever." She stood, her the fabric of her robes rustling, "I appreciate your honest Mr. Crawley and your understanding. The last thing I ever want is my students despising me as a Head of House. Might I escort you to the common room? Or can you find your own way."

Jake smiled. "I don't mind verbal bouts, you know me Professor, but when I don't get to even say anything back it's not fair. Some take things more seriously I suppose," Jake said shrugging. "He's more of a rules boy, I'm sure your dream with us all and the twins. I can find my way back, but when am I to serve my punishment?" Jake asked.

Minerva gave Jake a rare smile, recognizing a jest when she heard one. The corners of her eyes crinkled very slightly when he lips twitched upward, "Of course, since you are all such a hand full. I expect you do not mind a few verbal spouts here and there for my students are known to be well versed in the art but I will still bring it up with the Headmaster and his Head of house."
Being reminded about his imminent detention, she took out a sheet of parchment and wrote down the details then rolled once she dried it and handed it to him, "Have a goodnight Mr. Crawley."

"Thank you, Professor McGonagall. I hope you have a pleasant evening and I'll try not to attack anyone on the way back," Jake said taking his paper and leaving her office, giving her a quick wink before he shut the door.

Minerva chuckled to herself and shook her head. Her hands reached upward to take down the tight bun she kept her hair in, "Boys... They never change, always fighting over something." She hoped her lions would make up the loss of house points and soon for the House Cup would be awarded within weeks.

Cedric whistled a little as knocked on Professor McGonagall's office door, "Professor? You in there?" He leaned against the wall next to the door and waited to hear something.

A quill in hand, she ordered who ever it was knocking at this time of night in. She'd take points if they were students and turn them back on their way as it was very late for any student to be out of bed. Minerva had forgotten about the letters she had put into her desk to answer at a later date and tonight felt like the proper night; she couldn't sleep. Unlike students, Professors had a little more freedom with what they could do and where they could be when sleeping was an impossibility.

Cedric whispered something to Jun, the password of the common room, and popped his head into the door crack when it opened, "I brought you Jun. I'll leave him here with you and return to the common room! Have a goodnight Professor. See you later Jun." He gave the boy a thumbs up and disappeared down the hall.

"Mr. Sakurai, have a seat." Minerva left her quill in her inkwell and gestured to the chair tucked in before her desk. She had expected this a little, Japan's timing not exactly in sync with their own but no matter, he would be an exception until he could get used to their hours. "Would you like some tea? A treat?" Being accommodating was easy enough as she poured him a cup of tea and opened the tin of biscuits and uncovered the cookies.

Jun blinked as he was left with the deputy headmistress. He rubbed the back of his head. "I am sorry fo be late." he mumbled softly. "I next time come earry." He explained and scratched Hachi's chin.
