Draco shook his head, "Even so Pansy, you are a female Parkinson and as such, deserve rights in saying who you do and don't want. You're the object of affection, not the male suitor."

Pansy smiled and then thought back to something he said earlier. "You know that everyone in the common room thinks that we are together. That's probably why they've been acting the way you described."

"Are we together, Pans?" Draco asked curiously.

Pansy met his eyes. She didn't know what to say she wasn't a Gryffindor who put there emotions out there and hoped for the best. She was in Slytherin were they rarely did such a thing in fear of getting hurt. It was very unfair of him to do this to her. He was probably enjoying it too. "I-I don't know. I thought we - I can't answer that question with out more information," she said finally.

Draco nodded, "Fair enough. I was only wondering your thoughts about us."

"And do I get the same courtesy?" Pansy asked.

"If you so desire, Pans, though to be fair you didn't answer at all. I see us as the greatest of friends. I can come to you with anything and you know you have the same opportunity. I've known you the longest of anyone here. You are very much like the sister I never had, and will never have. It is why I love showering you with affection and like on St. Valentine's, a gift or two. A treat here and there. I want you to know I love you, but in a platonic way." Draco kept his eyes locked with Pansy's the entire time, wanting to express to her how much he honestly felt this.

Pansy nodded. "Of course. You're correct I didn't give you an answer. I love you too, Draco. I meant it when I said you are my best friend and I don't ever want to lose that. You're the only person I trust besides my brother."

"Pans," Draco said as he reached over to hold her hand, "If we weren't so emotionally attached in a platonic manner, I'd try to date you. Truly. But doing that as of now or ever... I feel it'll break what we have, and we would lose it. Do you understand?"

Pansy nodded again. "It's fine Draco. I understand and I would rather have you as my best friend than lose you completely," she said, squeezing his hand trying to reassure him.

Draco released a sigh of relief and laughed a little, he didn't know whether it was also from relief or from a half-asleep stupor he felt he was in, "Pans. You know I'll be there for you right? In the future?"

Pansy smiled. "I know. Me too, I mean for you." She noticed he looked tired. "Should we return to the common room now?" she offered.

Draco smiled and then shook his head, "No no, m'fine Pans. Finish eating, please."

Pansy shook her head. "I'm not very hungry," she said pushing her plate away. "We could talk if you want. I heard that Amber is partners in Transfiguration with Weasley. You could use that in your plan."

Draco nodded, "Alright sure. Partners with Weasley, eh? I had an unfortunate run in with those twins, though no prank thank Merlin. I wonder what's got them so silent."
