Welcome to the Muggle Studies class, students! I am Professor Charity Burbage and I will be teaching you this semester. I hope you find this class exiting and informing- you will soon find that the muggle world and wizarding world share similarities! We have more in common than the night sky! Muggles live in a complex world and I understand that a lot of the materials we learn are new concepts to many of you. Please know that my office is always open and do not be afraid to ask questions.
Point System
Doing well on assignments will earn you points and doing terrible on assignments will lead to a loss of points.
Earning an O (Outstanding) will earn you 15 points.
Earning an E (Exceeds Expectations) will earn you 10 points.
Earning and A (Acceptable) will earn you 5 points.
A Poor is worth nothing, but will not help you and hurt you.
Earning a D (Dreadfull) will result in a deduction of 5 points.
Earning a T (Troll) will result in a loss of 10 points.
Grading System
As I said earlier, I understand that Muggle Studies might be difficult to grasp. The muggles live a completely different way from us and most students here are unaware of the lifestyle. I cannot grade “harder” on muggle-borns or half-bloods who live in the muggle world and I cannot grade “easier” on pure-bloods. Your classmates and I are here to help. Do not be afraid to ask questions.
Please do not let your personal views, good or bad, of the muggle world affect your work. Please take this class seriously and do your work seriously. If I hint any sarcasm in your work, I will confront you and you will earn yourself a T, detention, and possibly off the class roster.
I am not the harshest grader. I will grade based off effort and writing skills.
Extra Credit
Extra credit will only be given by class participation by asking questions in the class room, helping other students, and participating in class discussion. I will post class discussion questions on the homework assignment page and you are more than welcome to answer them in the class room (located on first floor). If you hand the questions into me I will not grade them for possible points.
I welcome you to Muggle Studies!
