The Hufflepuff Table

Cedric came to the Hufflepuff table after waving to Nyssa and Ron to get himself some toast and marmalade. It tasted delicious because he was practically starving.

Josten entered to the common room through the front entrance, rather than going through a secret passage that the fellow Hufflepuffs knew. It was too risky to use in front of the other students. Jost sat down on a spot of the picnic styled seating and got slices of meatloaf and boiled carrots. Meatloaf was his favorite. There was something about meat in the shape of bread that was special.

Cedric sat across from Josten and served himself some meatloaf as well just feeling in the mood for it. He grabbed a few rolls and bit into one rather voraciously in his multitasking, now serving himself a healthy amount of potatoes and smothering them in gravy. After he swallowed he looked over to the older Puff, "How you been Jost?"

"I've been good. Trying to make the days go by faster till I can get on the boat, leaving Hogwarts forever," Josten said as he cut his meatloaf into pieces before taking a bite. "Other wise I have been doing good. There's nothing to brag or complain about," he said and looked to Cedric. "How about you Ced?" Josten asked as he took a drink of apple juice.

"I've been working on this clue for the tournament but so far no luck. I hope I can figure it out somewhat before the second task comes up, I'm a bit worried I won't." Cedric ran his fingers through his hair and immediately regretted it when he remembered how sweaty he was. Wincing, he shook his hand away from the table and avoided touching any food with that hand.

"What's the clue? Or are you not allowed to tell anyone?" Josten asked Cedric. He was curious about the event himself. "Do you know when the second task is? It's been over a month." Josten was halfway through with his meatloaf. He decided to switch it up a bit and cut a roll in half and making a sandwich out of his dinner.

"I don't think I'm at liberty to really tell anyone or I'd tell you Jost, but there's no set time for task two." Cedric sighed and ate a little more slowly now. He dipped his fork into his potatoes and ate them sadly, they reminded him of home and of his mother. You'd think about six years of going to a boarding school you would get home sick but somethings just don't change.

"Well at least that's more time for you to wonder what the clue means," Josten said, trying to look at the bright side. He finished his sandwich and looked around the great halls. He looked at the older, upper-class girls and compared them to the younger yeared girls. How time changed. He remembered Kimmy in her first year. She had extremely curly, greasy hair and had no sense of manners, and now she was a beautiful, young woman who could make heads turn. He looked back at Cedric. "It's weird how much people change within the years of Hogwarts."

Cedric looked around and took what Josten said in. "You're right. I remember being this tiny little run first year and now... I never imagined I'd get so tall or muscled at that." He touched his arms and knew that was because of how much he enjoyed and played quidditch as well as the good food they fed them, they kept them healthy. "I never thought about a lot of things. You remember me my first year, right?"

Josten grinned as he remembered the puny boy Cedric was. "How could I not forget? I was your mentor. I helped you around. You were lost like a puppy. I think I helped you greatly your first year, not to brush my own shoulders or anything," Josten grinned and leaned back but forgot there was nothing to lean back. "Woah!" Josten flew his arms up in the air and caught himself at the seat and pulled himself forward.

Cedric snorted into his goblet of juice and struck his own chest to stop himself from choking when he saw Josten almost go heels over off the bench. "You okay there mate?" He tried his hardest to stifle his laughter as he finished eating, reminded about his first year and Josten's very helpful mentoring. He showed him around the castle, the grounds, little tricks, and Cedric had taken it in all very gratefully. He always respected him after that.

"Yeah," Josten burst into laughter and held his stomach as he laughed. "I thought there was a back rest behind me and it slipped my mind," he said between gasps of laughter. Jost wiped tears from his eyes and took a deep breath. "I have cat like reflexes, me-ow," he said and made a paw-like grab motion.

Jun found his way into the common room before noticing one of the boys that had helped him when he arrived. He made his way to the table where Cedric sat, looking around at those sitting there. "Good afternoon." His English was formal and held his accent quite obviously. "May I sit wiss yu?" He asked, missing the 'th' and sharpening the 'u' far to much.

Josten looked up. The new transfer Hufflepuff. His English was weak, but good enough to where he could form a slight conversation or ask a question. "Go ahead! er, yes! Yes!" Josten nodded and smiled and pointed to a seat near him. Jost didn't want to confuse Jun with more casual, slang terms so basic yes or no's would be the best.
