"Yes," Jake said. "I almost forgot. You got a letter from my mum." He reached in his pocket and put it in her hand. "Probably a thank you to your thank you."

"Here, I'm too tired to move. It took all my strength to get here," Jake said. "But you can go if you want. I understand." He meant that not wanting to feel like he was guilting her into anything.
