Rose went down to the common room and spotted Cedric. "Hey, Cedric! There you are! We were wondering where you were!"
She sat across from Cedric. "How was your break?"

Tonks entered the common room and saw Cedric. She smiled weakly, but was consumed by thoughts of Sirius. Of course she knew who he was; her mother was Andromeda Black, so she and Sirius were second cousins. Or first cousins once removed. She was never quite sure how those things worked.
Either way, she knew that Sirius had been burned off the family tree along with her mother, but he must've been as bad as the rest if he was in Azkaban. Tonks shuddered to think of her family members, especially that bloody Malfoy twit. She sat down in one of the cushy armchairs, her hair changing colour rapidly, as it often did when she was emotional and had no control over her ability.

Cedric returned Tonks' weak smile with a pleasant one, not wanting to bother the obviously distressed girl.
He turned to Rose, "Ah, well.. my break was fine. I chose to stay behind though, seeing as my Dad got sick. I wanted to stick around and make sure he'd be alright before coming back, you know?" Avoiding thinking on it too much, Cedric posed a question for them both, "How about your breaks?"

Well, it was no use dwelling on it, Tonks thought. She concentrated extremely hard and got her hair back to its usual purple.
"It was alright. Sorry about your dad. He's doing better now, then?" she asked, not wanting to be antisocial on Cedric's first night back.

"It was great," replied Rose. "I went sightseeing with my parents, then I took them for a trip around Diagon Alley." Rose grinned. "It so funny to see their expressions - sometimes I forget they're not used to this magic stuff."
Rose shifted in her chair. Tonk's mood didn't escape her. She knew it had to do with Sirius Black, she just wasn't sure why, exactly. Of course, a lot of people were reacting to him breaking out in different ways. She decided to ask Tonks about it later.

Cedric gave them a half-nod, "My Dad's a bit better though still recovering.. He said he'd send me an owl though, when he's completely recovered!" Cedric gave them a bright smile, hopeful to hear from his Dad soon. "And it sounds like you had a lovely time, Rose. I'm glad your break was lovely." Cedric looked around, "Where is everyone?"

"Brilliant. Glad to hear it," Tonks replied, returning Cedric's smile with one of her own.
"Not sure where everyone else is. Rose and I were alone for a good deal of time. I think I've seen some other Hufflepuffs lurking about the library, but none have come in here," Tonks said. She hoped that her demeanor was a bit more cheerful, although she'd lost control of her hair colour again. It doesn't do to fixate on these things, she thought. Still, she couldn't help but wonder... how did Sirius escape? And, more importantly, why was he here?

Rose rolled her eyes. "They better show up soon - that that you aren't good company, Tonks!" She turned to Cedric. "We had an epic duel earlier. You should have seen it!"

Cedric nodded thoughtfully and stood, "Well perhaps we'll see more around later on. I'm a bit hungry girls, if you'll both excuse my leave." Cedric gave them both a dazzling smile and left for the Great Hall.

Rose grinned as Cedric walked away. "Gosh, he's so handsome," she sighed. "I have it totally bad, Tonks. I can not help it!" Rose turned to Tonks. "Too bad he's totally in love with Cho Chang," she said sadly.

"Yeah, but so is Gavin, so it's not that big an issue," Tonks replied. "Cho's certainly got her hands full with the men-folk. You could totally nab Cedric if you tried."
She shifted in her chair a little. "Hey, Rose... What do you know about Sirius Black? I'm probably making too big a deal out of this, right?" Even though she tried to play it off, Tonks was sure that Rose knew something was up. They weren't best friends for nothing. Rose could always tell somehow. It was a gift.

Cedric had awoken, showered, and dressed. He was now in the common room. Suddenly, his stomach gave a rumble. Cedric was quite glad to be alone as he exited to the Great Hall for breakfast.

Cedric paced around, wondering of Cho thought he was a complete moron now. Of course she does! You leaned over and wiped jam off her face! How much more weird can you get?! He put his face in his hands. How was he going to face her?
