"Tell me about it," Ron said with a groan. "It's even duller nowadays with nothing to do. Even Hogsmeade is getting to be dull." He added with a laugh. "The world is certainly coming to an end then, huh? A Slytherin is bored and felt that it was dull." He teased Amber.

Skulking along the shadows, a silver tabby lurked near her lion's common rooms just on a late night patrol of her own. Minerva would occasionally go around when another teacher could npt and as tonight Professor Burbage was in a rush to prepare her own study plans for the morning she was covering her shift. Her irises narrowed vertically as she hissed inaudibly. Another student.
Swiftly she switched forms and stood before Ronald and his little companion in her tartan nightdress and braided hair, "May I ask what is going on here?"

Ron cleared his throat. "Pro-Professor McGonagall." He called out. "I was just assisting Miss Smith to her own common room. We were just going back." He explained.

Minerva folded her eyes and looked at the two coldly. She wasn't a simpleton and would not be treated as such, "Mr. Weasley, I expect the truth and not some half-stuttered lie when I speak to you. You were made Prefect for a reason unless you would like that revoked." She turned to the blond haired girl and gave her a once over, "Your house, girl?"

Amber looked at the Professor and nodded "I apologize Professor McGonagall. I was feeling very smothered being in my common room and dorm since I had been there for most of the day then decided to go for a walk. It's not an excuse but it's the truth"

"It's not a lie,Professor." Ron said. "It's the truth. We were hanging out and I was just assisting her to go back to her own commons,Professor." He explained. "I apologize,Professor. Of course. I wouldn't want my prefect status to be revoked." He looked down on the ground,a glance at Amber every now and then.

"I'll be having a talk with Severus then about allowing his students to leave the dungeons well past curfew on voyages that should have taken place well before," Minerva's lips thinned greatly as she spoke in her serious, disciplinary tone. "For now, you will serve detention tomorrow with me in my office at five and no later. I expect you to be punctual."
She unfolded her arms and pointed Ron down the corridor, "Mr. Weasley. Take your leave, I will accompany your friend back to the dungeons."

"Thank you,Professor McGonagall. I'll take my leave." Ron said and walked down the corridor, glancing back at Amber and giving her a small apologetic wave. He made a mental note to owl her later or tomorrow morning.

Minerva's lips couldn't possibly thin anymore as she shooed the girl toward the stairs. Being an authoritarian woman and unrelenting at that, she spoke once more, "And I believe thirty points from Slytherin will suffice for tonight." She walked behind the blond Slytherin every step of the way to the dungeons.

Amber nodded "Fine" she said walking in front of her "You know, I could have told you a big lie instead of telling you the actual reason I was in the corridor. I'm not saying it counts for anything but at least I didn't make some lame excuse like some would"

"As kind and considerate that is of you, that does not change that fact that you are at least more than seven floors from where you should be, and as I am not one to hallucinate, I do think I am justified in my form punishment of your rule infraction. Unless you would like to make it twenty more points for attempting to argue with an authority figure, a Head of House and Deputy Headmistress no less." Minerva kept her sharp gaze on the back of the blond as they took the stairs to the floor below.

Amber shrugged "I'm not saying that me sneaking out is alright, I was just making a point to tell you that me telling you the truth is better than me lying. And, I was just trying to make conversation, not argue" she said walking down the steps

"Conversation would consist of something intellectual young lady, none of which your logic contained. I am however open to discussing the issues of morals... with someone who can follow the rules." Minerva paused in her walking and stood again with her arms folded firmly over her tartan nightdress, "But I think you're intelligent enough to find your way back without any detours, am I right?" If a dog could find its way back to its home, surely this young and capable lady could.
