Gavin entered the great hall and sat down. He saw the food spread and immediately started digging in, getting steak, roasted potatos, and asparagus. "Thank goodness for food," he said and took a bite of his steak.

"I did the research part, but I haven't really practiced anything." Effy picked at her food.

"I practiced by myself, and did miminal research," Gavin said, "it's okay, I'm sure they wont dock us if it's late. All the professors are behind."

"I'll probably just finish practicing later tonight, but like you said, Lupin'll probably be pretty lenient. He seems to be the only one on top of things."

"Thats true," Gavin said, "and I'm sure he understands that we are busy with other things," Gavin said. "There is still no word about the spring ball."

"I don't think there's ever been any official word about that, though, it was always a rumor. But it would be a lot of fun."

"I think it will remain a rumor," Gavin said, "but the spring would be a good time. The weather is perfect for a dance, and it could be outside, maybe. Or in the great hall, and flower petals can fall..." Gavin trailed off, then truned red after talking about the dance.

"Er, I'm not sure," he thought for a second, "What are your parents like?" David asked. "Oh, and my sister is adopted, not a step-sibling."

"Well, my parents are interesting... I guess. My dad's English and my mom's Saudi, so when they get into arguments it's pretty entertaining. Not that they fight a lot. Oh, she's adopted, one of my friends back in California is adopted", Amira had a feeling they'd get to know each other a lot better today.
