"Well that's good Mr. Nott." He nodded and gave a smile to the girls. "Ladies. I'm quite sure you've got no reason to be in the dungeons so close to curfew. I have been sending a good many students to detention recently and I'd hate to have to do the same for you."

Amira hit her palm to her face lightly and wondered if she should just uncast the spell, the headmaster obviously could see through it.

Effy took a breath and decided that there was nothing she could do now. She put her shoes back on and took off the charm. "Sorry, headmaster. THe common room just gets a little boring sometimes," she said apologetically.

The headmaster sighed. "I wish that students would believe me when I say that I know when things are amiss in my school. Your boredom can be resolved in far more appropriate ways than skulking about in places you don't belong when it's time for you to be returning to your respective houses." The Headmaster looked a little less cheery than normal. "Keep this in mind."

Amira nodded and took her shoes back from Effy, putting them on quickly. She headed back for the tower, her nails digging into her palm.

"And Ladies. It is unlike a Ravenclaw to disobey rules so directly. Do not let it happen again. Mr. Filch will be waiting for you at the end of the corridor. He will see you most of the way back." He looked back to Theodore.

"Thank you for your efforts Mr. Nott. Give it a few minutes and carry on to your common room. And you needn't worry, I will ensure the safety of your house's secrets." He gave what may have been a nod. "Have a good night." He turned and followed the same path up that the Ravenclaw girls had followed.

Theo nodded. He didn't understand what the Headmaster was talking about half the time but waited as he was told.
