"Confused," Pansy told him honestly. She sighed and took a drink of the butterbeer half wishing it was Firewhiskey.

"Is this because of Mr. Elm?" Draco recalled the temperamental boy with a sneer.

"Partically, yes." Pansy grinned at his sneer. "But then there is the fact that it's Blaise and... he's never really been interested in me or one girl in general. You know how he is," Pansy told Draco.

Draco knew exactly what she was talking about when she explained her reasoning behind any hesitation. If he had to choose for her, he'd choose Blaise. Kiba Elm hung around the wrong sort, dinky little hufflepuff girls. He'd never be able to handle Pansy and all she was. "You've talked to him about this fear of yours, yes? Or at least taken the easy way out and drugged him with veritaserum."

"Yes... and he assured me it would be only me," Pansy replied. "I don't want things to turn out poorly. You know I'm rather difficult to get along with."

"Pansy, you're not difficult to get along with. Blaise should be and will be happy to have you as a girlfriend, alright? If you should choose him." Draco sipped at his mug again.

"You only say that because you understand me more than anyone. What do you think I should do?" Pansy asked bluntly, wanting his honest opinion.

"Are you asking me who would I choose if I was in your position?" Draco pushed his mug aside and looked at her seriously.

"No, I already know that answer. Everyone knows you fancy Blaise," Pansy smirked. "I don't know what to do about Blaise. I'm scared."

Draco sighed and stood, scooting Pansy over to sit next to her instead of before her. He put an arm around her shoulders and brought her in, "You should be scared, getting into something like this is a serious decision. If you don't know what to do though, don't do anything. It means you aren't ready."

"I know what to do. I don't want to mess it up." Pansy rested her head against him. "I'm sorry, this isn't a very fun birthday. I'll stop now."

"I'm not one for birthday celebrations like you are Pansy." Draco ran his hand through her hair like he usually did. "I think Blaise knows you don't want to make a mistake and probably feels the exact same way. You're both slytherins after all."

"Are you saying I shouldn't give you your gift?" Pansy smiled up at Draco. "As a Slytherin I always think people have an alterier motive. I can't stop thinking."

Draco immediately perked, "A present? What kind of present?" He cleared his throat and reigned himself in again, "Have you thought of Blaise? Perhaps he cannot cease in thinking about the situation either. This is just as big of a decision for him as it is for you Pans."

"I figured it was a big decision when he ran out on me. Why must people always do that? You never tell me anything and then leave me." Pansy sighed into his shoulder. "You said you didn't want to celebrate I guess you'll never know. That's a shame, it took me four months to get it."
