Cedric shrugged and nodded, "Well, then I guess she got busy that night too?"

"Guess so," she said shrugging. She broke off another piece from her pie to eat.

"So, you and I really don't talk. What's up?" Cedric finished his pie and butterbeer.

"Not to much," she said with a sigh. "I'm happy to be back at Hogwarts. Getting back into the daily swing of things. You know about Gavin. That's about it. How about with you?"

"Same things as you, except for Gavin, replace him with 'my dad's getting better' and is making a full recovery at home." Cedric grinned.

She nodded, looking down at her plate. She didn't know why Cedric mentioning his dad triggered her but she was determined not to cry. She hadn't since coming back and she wasn't going to start now. "We lead such exciting lives," she joked trying to make her voice as nonchalant as possible.

"Yeah fine," she said waving a hand while placing the other one across her eyes and taking a deep breath. She put fold her hands in her lap taking another deep breath looked up and said. "Fine. My emotions have just been a bit off since last week."

Nyssa bit her bottom lip, looked up at the ceiling and took a deep breath. While still looking at the ceiling she answered, "The woman who raised me passed away last Thursday."

Cedric got quiet as he wrapped his arm around the auburn haired girl with the ears on her head, "I'm sorry to hear that, but seeing as there's nothing I can do, are you alright? Do you need someone to.. blow off some steam to? Cry to..?"

"I'm trying to not let it get to me," she said calming a bit when he put his arm around her. "I'm not an emotional person most of the time. I just don't know what to do though."

"You should let to get to you, for a day, and then move on. Mourning is a natural thing, too much of it is bad, but too little is just as bad," Cedric rubbed her arm in a brotherly way.

"Yeah, I went home for the funeral," she said. "That was kind of a bad idea. It was great to say goodbye but I took on the role of being the supportive one when I got there because I felt I had less of a right to cry than her husband or her son. Y'know?" she said knowing he didn't really know and for the first time in a while letting her accent shine through.

"Well, if it's like that, then you felt less attached because she wasn't a blood mother, right? I can see where you're coming from though I don't necessarily understand.." Cedric squeezed her a little in the one armed hold, "Then you need to cry."
