By the Lake

[Nyssa Pond]

"Nothing really," Nyssa said with a shrug. "I've been hanging out in the common room and wandering around the castle. Got a letter from my dad. Not much else."

[Jake Crawley]

Jake nodded. "How was the letter?" he asked cautiously.

[Nyssa Pond]

"Fine," Nyssa said. "Mostly about how he can't wait for me to get home, how the fairs are going so far, etc. He said he wanted to talk about the whole witch thing but we'll see how that goes."

[Jake Crawley]

"I'm sure everything will be fine now that he's had a little time to get used to the idea," Jake said.

[Nyssa Pond]

"I hope so," Nyssa said.

[Jake Crawley]

Jake rubbed her back, sighing happily. "I really did miss you," he said again.

[Nyssa Pond]

"What have you been up to that has kept you away?" Nyssa asked looking up at him.

[Jake Crawley]

"Work and stuff," Jake said. "Sorry."

[Nyssa Pond]

"It is fine," Nyssa said taking his hand in hers. "Like I said a couple of days ago, we'll have to get used to it at some point."

[Jake Crawley]

"I don't want to get used to it," Jake said.

[Nyssa Pond]

"I don't either but we don't have much of a choice, dear," Nyssa said squeezing his hand.

[Jake Crawley]

"We could run away together," Jake suggested playfully.

[Nyssa Pond]

"Where would we go?" Nyssa asked playing along.

[Jake Crawley]

"Do you like the beach?" Jake asked.

[Nyssa Pond]

"I don't hate it," Nyssa replied.
