The water was still and black as Professor Snape gazed deep into the lake's murky depths. The moon shined brightly overhead, a silver sickle in the black velvet sky. Somewhere to the right came the sound of water bubbling -- most likely from the giant squid.
At least the noise wasn't from some giggling, lovestruck adolescents, he conceded, brushing a minuscule speck of dust off the shoulder of his crisp black robes. Or maybe it's unfortunate that it isn't, he rethought. Then I could administer a double detention. Pity.
The moon was almost full. As expected, his Wolfsbane Potion would be perfect and ready on time. He silently glided back to the castle, taking shelter in his dungeons.

Theo hurried down to the lake and set out a blanket casting cushioning and heating charms on it. He pulled out the food, a mixture of fruits and sweets, from the picnic basket he talked the elves into packing and set it out along with the butterbeer. Looking around he made sure everything was perfect and waited for Lydia.

Lydia walked up not too much later with a smile. "What's all this?" She had tied her hair back on her way down and her owl now sat perched on her shoulder trying to get at her hair unsuccessfully.

Theo smiled. "A picnic. Do you like it?" He looked around thinking he had forgotten something or maybe it was just a bad idea.

She smiled brightly. "I love it." She kissed him softly and hugged him warmly. "It's completely perfect."

He sighed in relief. "I made sure there were strawberries and pineapple. The strawberries are chocolate covered though. There is variety of things I think you'll like." He winked.

She smiled and nodded. "It looks wonderful." She nodded, taking his hand and sitting. Bean hopped off her shoulder and hopped about looking for something to mooch.

Theo smiled and sat down next to Lydia. "Ah. Mr. Bean, I believe I promised you food last night." He reached into his pocket and pulled out an owl cracker and held it out in his hand. "Here you are, sir."

Bean hooted excitedly and grabbed the cracker hurried off to hide with it in the corner of the blanket. Lydia laughed. "He's your best friend now."

Lydia laughed. "Good." She picked up a bit of pineapple, biting a small bit from it. She smiled and rested her head on his shoulder.

Theo smiled and look towards the lake and over the grounds. "Im glad you liked your surprise. It would have been hard to bring the lake into the dorms."

She nodded and continued to nibble at the pineapple piece. "You're very right, it would have been hard." She laughed lightly and went for a strawberry.
