Pansy took a deep breath. "It's Pansy. May we speak?"

Draco quirked an eyebrow, "In here or out there."

Pansy sighed, not wanting to go down there again. "In there please?" she asked hopefully.

Draco went silent for a moment but ultimately stood and put away his letter in his trunk, locking it and walking over. He opened the door, "..Come in."

Pansy walked through the door Draco opened for her. Not knowing where to go she stood in the middle of the room. "You look tired," she said bluntly.

Draco motioned for her to sit on his bed, "Have a seat. And yes, to be honest, I am. It does not help that I have Slytherin students who do not wish to protect their lives from a murderer on the loose, and it isn't any better that they can not properly lie to my face or get away with it. What did you want to talk about?" Draco took a seat on his trunk.

Pasny sat gingerly on the edge of his bed. He really did look awful, she wondered how much he had slept the previous night. "I-I don't know what happened. I mean, between us. Something happened and I -" Now that she started she was having trouble getting this out. She really didn't want him to yell at her again. "I haven't seen you since the meeting really." she finished lamely.

Draco rested his face in his hands, bent over as he sat, "Pansy. Do you mean to tell me you didn't understand the offense you placed against my family's honor with that sole remark in the Great Hall that day?" He stood up to look at her properly," You insinuated that my father was not only incompetent and inept at his career, but failed to recall that last year, he did succeed in removing the Headmaster if only for a time being. But you made no move to rectify that by apologizing to me and extending that apology to my family and my family's honor." Draco began to pace at the foot of the bed, having bottled this up since the last they spoke, "I couldn't believe that you said something like that. To me of all people. I thought we were close and then you go and insult me and my family. You very well know how seriously purebloods take family honor. It.. Merlin, pans, it hurt. I loathe to admit it with every thing I am, it bloody hurt."

Pansy listened to his explanation, she hadn't meant for him to think that! Merlin. "Draco... That's not what I meant. I -" she paused. "I know what your father did last year. I meant my remark to mean that surely now with the threat of Black the Board would listen to him." Pansy cursed as tears were welling in her eyes, she fought them back. "I would never want to hurt you, never. I did apologize last night when you were on the couch and I've never apologized to anyone in my life before that moment. You're my best friend-" she trailed off suddenly. There was a scratching noise at the door.

Draco turned to look at the door now, the strangest noise of claws on a hard surface echoing the now silent room. He walked over and opened the door. A cat. Neko's cat to be precise, and the one he encountered on his nightly patrol, he was now sure of it. He waited to see if it'd enter.

When Griffin saw that Draco was in the room he knew immediately he'd have to change his plan. He looked up at Draco and let out a soft meow before moving over to Pansy and nuzzling up against her leg. He hoped that she would take him out of the room when she was done.

Draco sighed and shut the door. He turned to Pansy, at a loss of words for once. She didn't mean it like that, a voice resounded from within his mind. She did apologize, remember?, another voice spoke. Sighing deeply, he ran a hand through his hair and walked over to the bed, kneeling in front of her. He looked at her for a while, seeing the obvious tears welled up in her eyes. He should have listened better. Softly, Draco spoke to her, "You're my best friend too, Pans. I'm.. I'm sorry for being a huge arse."

Pansy picked up the cat and placed him on the bed wondering where he had come from. Draco's face was going through a range of emotions and suddenly he was in front of her and he said he was sorry, Draco Malfoy. Pansy was going to hate herself for this later she knew. She let the tears fall and suddenly she was hugging him. "Draco, I'm sorry. You were ignoring me and I thought you hated me and I didn't have anyone to talk to because I tell you everything." She took a breath. "Don't ever do that again."

Draco was initially shocked Pansy had suddenly slipped off the bed and into his arms, but slowly eased into holding her. He hushed her softly in an attempt to quell her tears as he rubbed soothing circles on her back with the palm of his right hand. He realized that Pansy was one of the only people in his life who could bring out the side of him he keeps away, his more human side- a side that has the capability of feeling. "Shh.. Pans, don't cry.. You'll get all red, you know you hate that.." He continued to comfort her.

Pansy buried her head into his neck. "Then don't yell at me next time you stupid git," she said softly. "I know how you hate red, Draco. It's too late." Pansy liked that no one else got to see Draco like this, this was hers. "I'll stop when you promise to never do it again..." she said, her lips twitching into a tiny smile, wondering how far she could push him.
