Blake bid the busy woman goodbye and clutched his chest in relief when she left. Merlin! That woman was skillful in negotiation but frightening because of her reputation. He did stay to finish his tea contently and would leave once he was done to go get ready to meet Charlotte to exchange their journals.

Amber walked up to Professor McGonagall's office door then rolled her eyes "Like I want to spend my evening with an old hateful hag" she mumbled before knocking on the door and waiting

Minerva came around the corner holding a tine of biscuits one of her seventh year girls gifted her during class for no reason in particular. "Ms. Smith, please, come in." She gave the door its usual tickle and unlocked it manually to push it open and await movement from the blond Slytherin. It was nice to see her early and well before five o'clock to emphasize her punctuality though truly it was earlier than any student would show up for detention.

Amber nodded then walked into the office and looked around "So, what shall I be doing for my detention?" she asked looking back to Professor McGonagall

"Straight to the point I see. You will be with me at least half an hour after you complete this for reasons I will divulge at that time," Minerva shut the door behind them with the same audible click it always gave and curiously, no creak from the hinges. She tapped the desk she kept in her office for detention purpose for Amber to sit at it as her robes rustled while she reached for the piece of parchment as well as a stack of empty ones, then brought them over and set them in front of the girl. "You have plenty of time. Begin." The hand that held her wand tapped a wall to reveal the chalkboard. Minerva found herself comfortably seated in her chair grading essays from students that decided to turn them in early while Ms. Smith got to work.
Hello dear student and welcome to Detention. You are here because you have committed an infraction that must be corrected, or you may have done something else to earn you your position now in my office.
You are to do the following: Copy the entire three pages in chapter four word for word on Inanimate to Animate Transfiguration, as well as the two pages in chapter six, and the two in chapter ten.
Write a letter to your family explaining what you were doing to lose your house thirty points and earn detention. It has to be at least three paragraphs and addressed, handed to me by the end of the period.
And finally, "I will not wander the halls after curfew" will be written upon the chalkboard fifty times.
I hope you think about what you have done and think twice about doing the same or another transgression again. Enjoy your time in my office,
Professor McGonagall

Minerva poured herself a steaming up of tea and was allowing it to cool as she filed the essays away and made a note of points to be given on a separate sheet of parchment. So far, many of her students had eagerly taken to the lecture on animagi and their essays reflected that greatly. It was said to Professors if your students enjoy the curriculum their work shows a great deal of improvement because not only have they immersed themselves in the subject, they avidly use their own voice to convey so instead of garbled essay speak that drips pretentiousness. Proud of her students thus far, she also filed away the parchment with the documented points and locked where she kept her files for safety's sake.

Amber sighed and rubbed her hand. She had already copied the three pages in chapter four on Inanimate to Animate Transfiguration, as well as the two pages in chapter six, and the two in chapter ten. She grabbed her quill then started on her letter to her family.

Minerva summoned the finished pieces of parchment when she saw Ms. Smith set them aside to begin on another. Setting them off to the side to look over later, she returned to the awaiting tea and began to fix it up like she found it enjoyable. Her somewhat withered fingers curling around the handle of her teacup to raise it to her lips as she rigidly sat in her chair, writing a letter to a parent with concerns for their child and their performance in school.

After receiving Minerva's invitation for tea, Charity walked over to her office, hoping that the detention was either over or ending; she didn't want to intrude. Her hair was let loose and not in her normal messy bun to celebrate the day's ending. Charity knocked on the door three times and tickled it before walking into the classroom. "Hell- oh," Chairty kept quiet after she saw a student diligently working in detention. Charity closed the door behind her and locked it after giving the door another tickle. She walked to Minervra's front desk and smiled before pulling herself a chair, "good afternoon," she whispered so the student could still work.

Minerva silently poured Charity a cup of tea and slid the saucer she placed it on over to the day worn woman. She offered her the usual tea fixings, milk, sugar, cream, by scooting the bowls closer to her and giving her a short gesture, "Glad to see you're ready to retire to your quarters Charity but remember you have patrol tonight." Minerva eyed her let down hair as she spoke and uncovered the fresh Danish cookies to eat one herself then offer a few to Professor before her, "Any treats for your tea, Charity?"

Amber stood up and walked over to Professor McGonagall's desk "Here is my essay to my parents, Professor" she said laying in on her desk then going over to the chalkboard "Is there any specific way you want me to write I will not wander the halls after curfew?" she asked

"Thank you again, Minerva for taking over last night. I truly appreciate it," Charity said as she picked a single sugar cub to put in her tea. "I'm glad that classes are over for today, I will be well rested for patrol," she said. Charity held a hand close to her chest and shook her head, declining Minerva's offer, "no thank you, Minerva," Charity said. Although she always took a treat with her tea, she couldn't let a small tea treat interfere with her dinner.

"There is only one way to write 'I will not want the halls after curfew,' neatly in your handwriting." Minerva took the letter and did not read it, folding it and placing it in an envelope. "Continue Ms. Smith." She watched the Slytherin girl for a few moments and returned to conversing with Charity quietly while she stirred her tea again. While she clinked her spoon gently with the rim of her cup she set it on a napkin, "It was no problem, it's how we're in this position at the moment actually. I caught Ms. Smith conversing with my Prefect after hours." Minerva sipped at her cup quietly and took another treat to eat.
