"You're the one that wants to stop time," Nyssa teased.

"You're the one that suggested it," Jake said.

"Only because you wanted to stop the fleetingness of existence," Nyssa retorted. She was having fun with this playful debate.

"You're the one that brought up the fleetingness in the first place. I was trying to get you to flock with me," Jake laughed.

"I was merely pointing out that your desire to flock with me was only fleeting in the overall scheme of things even if it is a permanent part of your existence," Nyssa smiled. She was determined not to admit defeat.

"If it was a permeant part of my existence than it wouldn't be fleeting as it would go on through others if it was a permanent part of your existence too," Jake said.

"Your time in the overall picture of time is only a small portion. If we hold your theory to be true and say that as long as someone remembers/knows it is in existence we have the issue of this hasn't been around since the beginning of time so it is still fleeting even if it doesn't end because it hasn't always been in existence. I'm actually reading a book on a similar concept but applying it to the concept of an afterlife." Nyssa said excitedly. She felt bad for Jake. This playful banter had been taken to the extreme by her Ravenclaw brain.

"Interesting theory you point out there. Say for example that two people meet, fall in love, get married, and have a family. A part of them carries on through others so was there existence fleeting or not?" Jake asked.

"It is. Eventually no one will be able to remember them. At least that is the argument made in the book I'm reading and I can see the validity of that point. Families die out so do entire species, it is only logical to conclude that ideas and memories do as well." Nyssa explained.

"I guess you have a valid argument. Then again if I'm dead and gone will it really matter to me if I've fleeted from existence?" Jake said.

"Depends on your theory of an afterlife I guess," Nyssa stopped herself from explaining the different theories and how they would apply. She had already killed the atmosphere in the room she didn't need to bury it with talks of what happens after death.

Jake nodded. "I guess you're right again," he said giving her a lopsided grin.

"Why are you sorry?" Jake asked, tilting his head as he looked up at her.

"Not the most interesting or cheerful of topics," Nyssa said with a shrug.
