The footsteps grew closer as the whistling grew louder. "What a lovely night for a stroll." Came the familiar voice of the headmaster up the the winding stairs. "I do love the night sky."

"Fantastic, now what?" Pansy looked to Draco.

Draco got off of the ledge and looked around. There was no place to hide to his knowledge. He helped Pansy down, hid the Honeydukes bag in his pocket after he shrunk it, and tried to look casual. "Be calm."

The familiar silhouette of the headmaster became visible as he strolled into view. "Why Mr. Malfoy, Miss Parkinson. Fancy meeting you up here well after curfew." There was a playful twinkle in his eye as he said it. He seemed to have known the whole time, that or he had formed a little plan to punish them already.

"Good... morning, Headmaster. We couldn't sleep." Draco smiled pleasantly to old man and leaned against the banister very relaxed.

Pansy nodded at Draco's words. "Hello, Headmaster."

"Couldn't sleep? Really? Well I hardly blame you. And after all Mr. Malfoy, in the company of such a lovely young lady such as Miss Parkinson. I can hardly blame you for wanting to sneak away. No need to make up stories."

Draco forcibly flushed and cleared his throat, looking away from the Headmaster. "I suppose you're right, how silly of me. She's certainly one that keeps me awake at night."

The headmaster chuckled. "Well I would advise you not to stay awake outside of your dorms at this hour. I'm quite sure if it had been anyone else that found you, you wouldn't have been so lucky. But since you are awake how about we all have a nice sit and wait until the sun rises hmm?" He smiled, knowing that having him there was likely the last thing they wanted.

Pansy gave Draco an odd look but decided to keep quite and let him do the talking. Besides, she really didn't know what to say at the time being.

Draco continued to pleasantly smile, "Why I would love to Headmaster but I think Miss Parkinson had grown tired of me and my presence. Perhaps she would like to leave and I will accompany you for the next six hours." He looked to Pansy, hoping she'd take the hint to save her own hide and fake sleepiness.

"Ah but it wouldn't be quite so fun without the both of you." He smiled and gave Draco a knowing look. "And a gentleman would never let a lady walk the corridors at night alone. Who knows what sort of trouble she could get into. I'd personally hate to have a run in with Peeves or Mrs. Norris. Mr. Filch has had a nasty cold so he hasn't been quite as nice as normal." He cleared his throat. "I suppose I'll let you go this time, but let's hope it doesn't happen again." He gave a rather serious look.

Draco was surprised the Headmaster would allow them their freedom so easily but he nodded and answered in a diplomatic voice, "Of course Headmaster, I do doubt we'll be walking around with insomnia again."

Pansy took Draco's hand and started to pull him with her to save him as well. "Of course Headmaster."

"Have a good night you two and do hurry back to your common room. Peeves has been playing some rather nasty pranks with ink balloons recently." He warned. "I would hate for him to find you."
