Theo walked into the shop with Lydia. He looked around at all the creatures in their cages and frowned. "I have no idea what I'm doing. I must have gone mad."

She laughed and pulled Bean out of her cloak, pulling her hood down. "Here, let's have Bean help us." She watched Bean get a tad nervous around the larger owls. "It's alright, they're all in cages." She pointed out so he would relax. "Find one you think you'll get along with and that Theo will like." She told him before letting him look about.

Theo looked around a bit more. "You're sure he's not going to fly around until he finds some nice girl owl that shares her food with him?" He jumped when he heard an unfamiliar screech coming from a different room.

She laughed. "He's not that self-centred. I hope." She smiled and watched him looking at a Great Horned Owl that was hooting softly to the smaller owl. Bean looked even tinier than normal when surrounded by so many larger owls. "You know you're going to have to make friends with the owl too, so that it's loyal."

Theo laughed. "No he's not self-centered at all..." He looked up at the cages and watched Bean. "I need a large owl that will fly long distances."

Bean looked to Theo and hooted before looking to the Great Horned Owl again. It was nearly five times his size, possibly more. "I think he's making friends." She watched Bean nibble the cage. "You should go have a look."

Theo grabbed her hand and took her along with him. He stood in front of the owl and looked at it. "What am I looking at?" He turned his head and the owl turned it's head to match.

She looked around, picking up a leather glove and holding it out to him. "Put this on." She instructed before grabbing another and slipping it on. She opened the cage watching Bean jump back on the crate he'd been sitting on. She let the owl down on her arm before looking to Theo.

He looked and the glove and back to her as he slowly put the glove on. "All right, now what?

She looked to the owl. "Hold your arm out and make sure not to move about too much." She told him as she transferred the owl to his arm, watching it at him with wide yellow eyes. "Once you're ready try petting him."

His eyes widened. "Why would I pet it?" He held his arm out looking at the owl. "It seems competent enough."

"Just pet the owl Theo." She rolled her eyes. "You need to make a bond. He's not going to be reliable if you can't communicate with him." She pointed out. "You want him to be loyal to you."

Theo sighed and stuck his hand out petting the owl awkwardly. "Can't I tell it I'm rich and it will have lots of treats?" He looked at the bird. "I'm rich and you'll get lots of treats."

She laughed softly. "That doesn't work as well on animals." She took his hand gently, guiding it along the Owl's feathers. "See, he likes that." She explained. "He'll like if you scratch him just there." She pointed to his neck. "Try gently."

"Lydia..." He sighed and scratched the owl where she instructed and watched it carefully.
